How Do I Store Meat?
Meat can be one of the trickier items to manage in a Loop load, but keeping it simple is key.
๐ฅฉ Sort It First
When your Loop load arrives, try to sort the meat first. Separating it out makes it easier to see what you have, what needs to be cooked right away, and what can go into the freezer.
๐ง Freeze It
Not feeding it right away? Get it into the freezer. Freezing lets you store meat until you're ready to cook it for your cats and dogs.
๐พ Cook It
No freezer space? Cook it immediately for your cats and dogs. Have a plan ready so meat doesn't sit around while you figure out what to do with it.
๐ฃ Share It
Have more than your cats and dogs can use? Share the excess! Try posting in your local Facebook group or reaching out to other local cat and dog owners who may be able to use it.
๐ฑ Compost It
Depending on your setup, meat may also be compostable. Do a little research into meat composting methods and what works for your particular compost system before adding it to the pile.
Sort it. Freeze it. Cook it. Share it. Compost it. Just keep it out of the garbage!
Remember: Loop meat is for cats and dogs only.
